Auntie Tara passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008. She had been sick for a long time, so it is good that she's not in pain anymore, but she will be GREATLY missed. She was my best friend in the whole world. I drove to Longview on Saturday, and Mimi helped out and watched you for me. You and her drove to Longview on Monday to be there for the viewing and funeral. I came and met you at the hotel when you got there. Mimi was tired from driving, and I was tired from crying and being so emotionally drained. I tried getting you to lay down for a nap with us, but you were WIRED and didn't want to sleep. You ran around in the room playing hide and go seek. I chased you and you ran between the bed and the little night stand and were stuck and had no where to go. I love the look on your face.
Then you found a pen and paper and decided to start writing. I told you to be careful and not write on the nightstand and this is the look you gave me.
After the look of death, you were right back to drawing your picture or writing your letter.
Before the viewing we went over Grandma Deb's house. Tara's older brother, Jake, and his wife and kids were there. I was shocked to see how much you look like his little girls! You could totally fit into their family and no one would ever question if you belonged to them.
Those kids were so cute and SO WELL BEHAVED! Maybe I should have let you go stay with them for a few weeks so you could pick up some of their good manners and learn how to be well behaved.
You spent the afternoon carrying this huge stuffed animal cow all over the house. It was as big as you were, but you would not put it down.
Then it was time to get dressed and go over to the funeral home for the viewing. You thought you looked so good in this dress, and you did.
Just getting in a little piano practice with Jake's girls before we headed out to Gilmer. Again, I still can't get over how much you look like them, and they played with you and included you just like you were part of their family.
After the viewing we went back to the hotel. I should have known I was in for a crazy night when this is what we found outside our hotel room! I kicked it out of the way, b/c you bent down to touch it, and it was still alive and started moving!!! Well, in the middle of the night I woke up b/c I felt something on my hand. I flipped on the lamp as fast as I could, and there was a baby roach crawling in the bed. It was heading right for your hair, so I grabbed you out of a dead sleep and hit it, but it didn't die. It was near Mimi, and she was awake now, too, b/c of me screaming to kill it. I told her to hit it, and she hit it towards us! She finally just hit it onto the floor and rolled back over and went to sleep. I went and got my shoe to see if I could find it to step on it, but it was gone! GROSS! YUCK!
The next day, we went to breakfast and then I went to the church for the family meal before the funeral. You were being a stinker, so Mimi took you and you went to WalMart. Then, you both came over to the church for the funeral. We changed you into your dress out in the parking lot, and Uncle Jeremy was helping you put on your shoes. This is the sweetest picture ever.
When you're older, you'll look back at the pictures and things I tell you of Auntie Tara and realize that she loved you just like you were her own, especially b/c she wasn't able to have children of her own. She and Uncle Michael spoiled you rotten. She will be incredibly missed!
